VA is an Approved Training Organisation (ATO), operating a B737-800 flight simulator at our Cambridge Airport Training Centre. We provide simulator training to commercial pilots, airlines and training partners, and pride ourselves on providing high-quality training in a friendly and supportive environment.
This is a multi-faceted position where you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient running of our Training Centre. You will be part of a small team, working together to deliver training to a very high standard. This role reports to the Operations Manager.
Some nights and weekends required
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Applies working technical/non-technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks in support of work on various devices while following detailed instructions which encompass all procedures (Prefer B737 and A320 experience)
Receives technical guidance as required from Operations Manager. All work is spot checked and is given detailed review when new or advanced assignments are involved
Locates and replaces defective parts in electronic circuits
Requires use of block, wiring and schematic diagrams to trace basic circuits
Maintains required documentation of maintenance activities
Monitors and tracks the repair status of inoperative equipment and document maintenance activities, utilising the logistics management database system
Documenting maintenance activities including, but not limited to, work order generation and updates, repair action documentation, issuing, returning, adjusting inventory, insuring inventory records are up to date and accurate, and other material control duties as assigned
Learns device requirements, system design standards, tools and procedures
Experience in QTG testing and Authority audits
Implement basic modifications to existing simulators
Other duties as assigned
Provide friendly and professional customer service to all clients
General training administration
Scheduling of simulator sessions, and rostering of staff and instructors
Ensure that enquiries are responded to promptly and comprehensively
Assist the team with other duties from time to time
A Technical University Degree with no prior work experience, or, an equivalent combination of technical education and two years related experience in electronics, electromechanical, computer, aviation or simulation technology

Ability to perform routine preventive maintenance using maintenance requirement cards and instructional manuals; performing daily system readiness tests, pre-operational and post-operational checkouts

This is a full-time role based at Cambridge Airport which will include regular weekend work. Hourly rate negotiable, depending on relevant experience.
