Just a week after completing his MCC training with VA, Phil secured a position with Flybe flying a popular short haul turboprop – the Bombardier Dash 8.
Phil joined VA for his MCC+JOC training in January 2018. Within just 7 days of graduation, Phil had secured a role in the right-hand seat flying the Bombardier Dash 8 with Flybe.
Phil’s lifetime passion for aviation drove him towards a commercial flying career. After completing his PPL at Multiflight in Leeds, he trained with Advanced Flight Training and obtained his CPL, ME and IR qualifications.
Phil was drawn to VA to top off his training for several reasons – “The quality of the facilities, understanding of MCC competencies and knowledge of the recruitment requirements of the airlines I was targeting were strong enough reasons for me to get on-board with them.”
Financial and family commitments represented big challenges for Phil. He said, “Hard work pays off. Don’t take short cuts. Work hard throughout all aspects of your training, and the rewards will come. There will be times when your enthusiasm and confidence are low, but it will all come together at the right time if you put the effort in.”
