Simulator Assessment Preparation

Our professional, one-to-one simulator assessment preparation sessions are designed to give you the best possible chance of passing the simulator check and getting the job. We are not here to judge you on your skills, but to help you and give you all the support you need to prepare. For those without an MCC qualification, we also offer Intensive Simulator Assessment Preparation.

What makes our assessment preparation the best available?

Expert advice

As leaders in assessment preparation we have unrivalled knowledge of most airline assessment profiles. Our service extends beyond the simulator session itself, and we are here to assist you 7 days a week, 362 days a year.

Choice of aircraft types

We can offer you access to a larger fleet of Airbus and Boeing full flight simulators than any other company in the UK. We have our own B737-800 fixed based simulator which offers exceptional value for money.

Current instructors

Your instructor is there to assist you, not to test you, so you can practise without the pressure of examiner scrutiny. Our instructor requirements are exceptionally high, and most instructors are current line pilots.

Last minute bookings

If you are not given much warning of your simulator assessment, we can usually still help. With a large team of instructors to call upon, we can often make bookings at very short notice.

Customer feedback

I was phoned by Ryanair 2 days ago informing that I was successful in the assessment and they have offered me a type rating starting in June. I certainly think my time in the sim at cambridge helped a huge way towards this success. Thanks very much.
— Ian M
As an experienced pilot I booked a refresher session to prepare myself for an airline selection process after not having flown for a while. The instructor fully understood my needs, tailored the session to exactly what I needed and demonstrated very good instructional technique in ensuring that I got the maximum value from the session. The session made a really big difference to personal performance at the airline selection day, not only in my flying accuracy but also in my confidence and awareness of what I was doing which really helped me relax and perform successfully. The session was well worth doing and I would recommend the training event to experienced pilots seeking a refresher as well as young chaps developing their skills.
— Neil Sheath
I found this experience very helpful. At the assessment I was very confident with the airplane thanks to the hours I did with VA. The instructor has been extremely helpful, I remain impressed from his professionalism. Thanks to VA I got the job!

Intensive Simulator Assessment Preparation

There's an emerging trend for schemes which allow low-hour pilots with just a CPL ME/IR qualification to apply to an airline BEFORE completing any multi-crew or jet training such as MCC, MCC+JOC or APS MCC.

Schemes like this can be a great opportunity, but they also come with a risk - as your chance of passing the simulator assessment may be drastically lower. That is inevitable and understandable, as you will usually be assessed in a multi-crew environment in a jet simulator, and you have not been trained in these skills yet. If you are successful, the multi-crew training will be provided to you later - but first you must pass the assessment.

Intensive Simulator Assessment Preparation is designed especially for pilots who don't yet have multi-crew cooperation or jet handling experience.

  • The intensive training will help to build skills in these two key areas as rapidly as possible in the limited time available before your assessment.

  • It's one-to-one and flexible, allowing the instructor to adapt what's included as you go along, in order to best suit your needs.

  • It includes a minimum of 8 hours simulator training.*

*Pilots who have recently completed our AirlineReady® APS MCC, which includes 40 hours simulator training, (or similar courses elsewhere) normally book 2-4 hours of simulator assessment preparation before an airline assessment. So, for anybody without a recent MCC qualification, 8 hours is a realistic minimum.

Course Structure & Price

We use a fixed base simulator because it's more cost effective, and also because most airline assessments are now conducted using fixed base simulators.

There is the option to upgrade to 12 hours simulator training  over three days, with the additional session being charged on a pro-rata basis.

Simulator sessions are available 20 hours per day, 7 days per week, and you can often book at short notice if your airline assessment is imminent.
