Why Virtual Aviation?

The only Fear of Flying Course that uses a full-motion flight simulator.

This is the only opportunity nowadays, for you to be able to sit in a cockpit with experienced pilots, discuss what worries you, have all your questions answered and watch them fly. Please see The Flight Simulator page.

Individual Courses

This course is just for you. The focus is on you and your worries about flying. Therefore it is not formulaic, but can be adapted to suit your needs.  You can also bring a guest if you wish. Please see the Course Itinerary.

Course dates arranged to suit you.

We’re flexible to your needs and can arrange courses on weekdays or at weekends, daytime or evening – often at very short notice.

A choice of locations.

The courses take place at Heathrow, Gatwick - at professional training centres where airline pilots are trained and tested.

An experienced and understanding team.

Our team of experienced and sympathetic airline pilots all have a real interest in helping people overcome their fear of flying.

Answering your questions, and dispelling myths.

Have you ever wondered… what is turbulence? How dangerous is it? What are air pockets? How does a plane stay up? What are all those unusual noises? What happens if the engine stops? How often are planes serviced? What happens if something goes wrong? Why do I get a feeling of falling when the plane levels off? These are just a few of the typical questions that pilots are asked. This is your chance to ask an expert for answers to your questions.

A dialogue, not a lecture.

Each person’s fear is subtly different. That’s why we believe in giving personal attention and addressing your own particular concerns, not giving you a lecture.

High staff ratio.

On each course there are at least three members of staff and no other customers, so we can focus on addressing your own unique concerns.

Lots of satisfied customers.

Don’t just take our word for it. Why not take a moment to read some of the many testimonials we’ve received from past clients?

National press reviews.

Our courses have received several excellent reviews in the national press.

On a traditional course for nervous flyers, you will take a flight in an aircraft:

  • You sit passively in the cabin, and you cannot get off.
  • You take-off once and land once.
  • You may or may not experience turbulence.

On our course, the simulator flight is very different:

  • You will be sitting in the cockpit with your two pilots, who will talk you through everything.
  • You are in charge, and we go at your pace. We won’t even take-off until you say we can.
  • You can choose to repeat certain procedures, such as take-off or landing, until they feel more normal and familiar.
  • You will learn a huge amount about the operation and capabilities of the aircraft, its manoeuvrability and the many safety back-up systems that most people don’t realise exist.
  • You can ask the pilots to demonstrate any procedures that concern you, such as landing in fog, dealing with an engine failure, or anything else that worries you.
  • You can experience different levels of turbulence, which can be introduced gradually - and we can explain what turbulence is, and what creates it.
  • You can fly in any weather conditions you choose, at daytime or night-time.
  • You can ask questions throughout the flight.
  • You can stop at any time. The motion can be turned on and off in seconds.
