Virtual Aviation featured in Channel 4's 'The Storms That Stole Christmas'

Tune in to Channel 4 tomorrow evening at 9pm to watch The Storms That Stole Christmas.

The two part series documentary explains the experiences of those who were affected by the storms that battered Britain during the festive period in December 2013. What was meant to be the 'most wonderful time of the year' soon transformed into one of the worst storms in history with fallen trees, homes without power, cancelled trains and chaos at most UK airports.

Channel 4 visited the Virtual Aviation Training Centre to experience and understand the challenges that extreme weather conditions pose to airline pilots. As part of the documentary our Boeing 737-800 flight simulator was used to illustrate how airline pilots cope in abnormal weather conditions and have to make split second decisions when attempting to land, initiating a go-around or when being forced to divert to another airport to land safely.
